WEBSITE The essential focus in this film is about a peculiar contemporary Japanese funeral ritual. As in many countries, a person’s death isn’t always just the concern of the immediate family. Totally unrelated people such as, funeral directors and photoshop editors are involved. We are all aware that we will die one day, however we can’t actually experience what happens to us after we die….
This unique film is based on the artist’s own experience, from working in a Japanese company that specialises in producing photographs of the deceased.
SCREENING: Thursday 23.08.18, 5.35-6.45 PM
Hina Fujimoto’s training and background began in illustration. However one day, just out of curiosity, she added a little movement to her illustrated characters, which gave her a new passion and sensibility for ‘Movement’. This triggered Hina’s current animation practice. Since then, she has produced a few animations using the cutout stop-motion technique.
