Ben is a Manx-born filmmaker. Having loved movies from an early age, he completed an MA in Film and Cultural Management at Southampton University in 2012, writing his thesis on “The Emergence and Evolution of the Isle of Man Film Industry”. After graduating, he chose to pursue a career in script supervision to learn as much about the filmmaking process as possible, and has since worked on several high-profile UK-productions, including THE MESSENGER (directed by BAFTA-winner David Blair), Universal’s ID2: SHADWELL ARMY, and the acclaimed horror comedy DOUBLE DATE.
In 2015, Ben was recognised for his career achievements so-far by gaining a place on the prestigious BAFTA Crew Scheme, and was the only script supervisor accepted that year. At the same time, he reached the semi-final stage of the 2015 Shore Scripts Competition with his first short screenplay PITFALL.
Having co-written and co-directed several short films as part of the Isle of Man-based MannInShorts filmmaking programme, PITFALL is Ben’s first major short film as writer/director.
